Losing Cloud password and Recovery key

Due to NordLocker’s end-to-end encryption, we never store your Cloud password or Recovery key. If you have forgotten your Cloud password and lost your recovery key, unfortunately, there is no way to access your encrypted files, as NordLocker never stores your data.

In this case, we suggest deleting your account and creating a new one to continue using NordLocker.

What is a Recovery Key

The Recovery key is a 25-character-long backup mechanism that helps you recover access to your NordLocker account in case you forget your password.

Having a Recovery key currently is the only way to recover your Cloud password.

If you wish to recover it, follow our guides:

Where to find the Recovery Key

During the NordLocker Cloud password creation step, we ask you to save your recovery key before continuing; therefore, it is worth searching for it on the device you have used when setting up your NordLocker account.

You may find it helpful to filter items by their creation date if you remember when you were setting up your NordLocker account.

Resetting NordLocker account

Resetting the account means that:

  • You will be able to create a new NordLocker account using a previously used email address.
  • You will be able to use the subscription bought and associated with the previously used email.
  • The files you have been storing in your NordLocker account will be lost, unfortunately.

If you wish to proceed with your account reset, get in touch with our customer support team, and they will help you out.
