The status icon is displayed on the right side of each folder and file within NordLocker. It provides a quick visual indicator that represents the exact current state of your files and folders — whether they are stored in the cloud only, synced to your device, actively syncing, or experiencing an error.
You can double-check the screenshot below to see what every symbol means and familiarize yourself with each status:
- Available when online - Your files are saved in the Cloud, not on your device. If you wish to access such files, you need to be online.
- Available on this device - Your files are saved in your device and in your Cloud; Windows can free up its space if running out of space. If they are updated on other platforms, their data will be cleared, and their status will change to “Available when online”.
- Always available on this device - If files with this status are updated on other platforms, it will trigger item re-download. Windows will not free up its space unless you unclick the “Always keep on device” option.
- Syncing - Your files are not in the Cloud yet; they are still in progress to be uploaded to the Cloud.
- Sync Error - syncing to the Cloud has failed. We recommend restarting the NodLocker application, checking if your Internet connection is stable, or checking if you are using the latest NordLocker application version.
