How to change your NordLocker Recovery Key on Android

Introduction

This guide will explain how to change your NordLocker Recovery key on your Android device.

Here's what to do

  1. Open the NordLocker application, log in to your NordAccount, and unlock the application.
  2. Next, click on your “Profile” button, located in the lower-right corner, and tap on the “Passwords” button.
  3. Select the “Reset Cloud recovery Key” button.
  4. Enter your Cloud password and select the "Continue" option.
  5. Alternatively, if you have enabled the biometric unlock, click on the “Use fingerprint to continue” button, scan your fingerprint, and proceed.
  6. Save your new Cloud recovery key, and tap on the “Update Recovery Key” button.

Additional Tips

  • Due to NordLocker’s end-to-end encryption, we never store your Cloud password or recovery key. If you have forgotten your Cloud password and lost your recovery key, unfortunately, there is no way to access your encrypted files, as NordLocker never stores your data. In this case, we suggest deleting your account and creating a new one to continue using NordLocker.
  • We recommend saving and storing your passwords in a trusted password manager. You can save both your password and your recovery key with NordPass password manager for free.
