Introduction
If you are logged out of the Windows NordLocker application or have locked it, you may still be able to see and access some files. This is because these files are stored on the device itself rather than being uploaded to the cloud-only.
If your files are kept on cloud-only, you will only be able to see the file tree, but you will not be able to access the files themselves. If you are offline and try to access your cloud-only file, you will get this error message: “Can’t open online-only file”.
This guide will walk you through enabling device encryption so you can access your files offline or while logged out by saving them directly to your Windows device.
Here's what to do
- Open your device's settings and select the "Privacy & security" section, located on the left side.
- Afterward, enable the toggle button for the "Device encryption" option.
- We highly recommend checking if your device encryption is enabled and using access-protected Windows profiles.
