Learning how to use the NordLocker free up space feature can be excellent for saving capacity on your hard drive or SSD, especially if large files are involved. The free up space feature operates by transferring your files directly into your Cloud in a secure, end-to-end encrypted cloud storage and only downloading them when needed, ensuring complete privacy and protection. In this article, you will find steps for using it on your Windows PC.
Saving files only in the cloud
To use the free up space feature, you will need to follow these steps:
- Open NordLocker.
- Right-click on any Locker, file, or folder.
- Select Free up space as shown below:
After that, the file will no longer use your device storage space and will only be in your NordLocker cloud.
NOTE: If NordLocker is offline, you cannot access a cloud-only file.
Using files in the cloud
To use any folder or file in the NordLocker cloud, double-click it, and the device will start downloading it. After a brief moment, the folder or file will be downloaded and synced with the device.
What do the icons mean?
The status icon is on the right side of the folders inside NordLocker. It represents the exact state of the files and folders. You can double-check the screenshot below to see what every symbol means:
