Note: We actively ensure support for major browsers—including Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Edge—as well as the two most recent major versions of each. While NordLocker should work with older versions and other browsers, we cannot guarantee that all functionality will perform as expected. Due to ever-changing security requirements, we recommend always using the latest version of a major browser.
If the browser app doesn't meet your needs, NordLocker is compatible with the following desktop and mobile operating systems:

Why doesn't NordLocker work in Safari/Firefox private mode?
NordLocker uses a local storage mechanism called Origin Private File System (OPFS), which is designed to persist even after a standard "clear cache and cookies" action. Because of this, Firefox and Safari treat OPFS as breaking the core promise of private browsing - that no trace of your session will remain once it is closed. As a result, both browsers automatically disable this feature while in private browsing mode.
Why does NordLocker use this type of storage?
To be clear, this storage is not used for tracking or browser fingerprinting, which is often the primary privacy concern surrounding this technology. Its main purpose is to improve app performance. Since NordLocker users can store hundreds of thousands of files in their vaults, retrieving all file information (such as names and sizes) over the network every time would significantly slow down the experience - especially when navigating large folders. To prevent this, OPFS is used to store your file information locally on your device, allowing NordLocker to access it instantly without relying on network requests.
Please note: all data stored using this method is fully encrypted and can only be accessed using your Cloud Password.
